Social Bookmarking List over 120 sites with Page Rank

We have a list of over 120 Social Networking and Social Bookmarking Sites for you to use! If you use any sites that are not listed here please let us know and we will add them to the list.

As many of you know we have been writing a lot about Social Networking and Social Bookmarking sites.  It is essential to get links to your site.  Any kind of link helps but the best kind of link is a one way link that points to your site and doesn’t require you to reciprocate which what this list is all about.  The higher the page rank of the site linking back to you the more valuable the link to your site will be.   The following list was originally found at WEB 2.0 Revealed web site and details what each Social Site does as well as the page rank.  Use them all or use a few that you haven’t heard of.  Check them out and see if your topic fits the site.  Remember the more links you have the more popular you site will become.  Provided, you are creating good content for your target audience.

We are also going to create a Social Networking List Page for this list and will update it as we find more.  If you have any sites that are not on this list, leave a comment and we will add it the list.  SOCIAL BOOKMARK SITES

Great Post! This is a really useful piece of information - a huge list that will take time to plough through but will be worth it in the end, I’m sure. Thanks for the info!

I looked at your list and I didn’t see blogcatalog. They have great widgets for your site and all of the blogs must be approved.

I’ve enjoyed some terrific blogs and people from there.

I don’t know their PR (page rank) tho their Alexa ranking is in the 1000-2000 range. If they don’t have a good PR now, they will.

The ‘discussions’ alone are worth listing them for.

Using the site is very user-friendly and I find it intuitive to navigate. I think those folks have done a great job - and they are always upgrading stuff.

    Thanks for asking,

  19. Joe October 16, 2007 6:26 pm

    Pam,
I want to thank you for taking the time to comment on our site. You are correct and Blogcatalog is a great site and it should be add to the list.

TO be honest, this list originally started off as a list of “non” popular sites. although they did get in and some are now popular. I will do my best to put in blogcatalog. Thanks for pointing this out to us.

  20. Rick October 22, 2007 1:27 am

It’s a great list.. you’ve missed one though, http://FriendSite.com - its like the best of Facebook, Myspace and Bebo, but without the crap - their bookmarking for publishers page is at http://friendsite.com/users/bo.....ishers.asp

    Hope that helps!
    Rick

  21. Joe October 22, 2007 8:03 am

    Rick,
Thanks for taking the time to comment!

I will add the Friendsite to the list. The Page rank is only a one, but I think it has a lot of potential. I like the fact that it offers visitors to create their own Branded social network site. This could be huge if it takes off.

    Best of luck!

  22. Rob O. October 24, 2007 6:59 am

    Also need to add:

    Babblz
    DropJack

Thanks for commenting on our blog. I will add the list you suggested. It’s funny, I have been using SK*rt for about a month and a half now, but never realized it wasn’t in my list.

    Thanks again

  40. Lazar December 12, 2007 12:27 pm

    Hi,

you made a nice list of sites. I do have to point out that you did mislead readers when you wrote:

‘The higher the page rank of the site linking back to you the more valuable the link to your site will be. ‘

That is totally incorrect and irrelevant. What matters is whether the site uses ‘nofollow’ in external links, and MOST of BIG sites do.

For example, check out Stumbleupon or Youtube. A link from there can bring you traffic, but not PageRank. They not only use nofollows in comments, but even on users profile pages linking to their homepages. They don’t want to prevent spam, they want to prevent PR leak, and to prevent giving any credit to their users who made those sites so big.

Here is another free advice for you, your pagerank is devastated with the social bookmarking buttons that you use.

    http://seolutions.net/blog/nofollow-monstrosity/

Download Antisocial plugin instead. And Nofollow-Reciprocity.

You may think what I say is nonsense, but check how YouTube (Google company - inventor of both PageRank and nofollow) guards pagerank from ‘Share’ social bookmarking buttons by analyzing source code of a page: near div class=actionLinks they have rel=”nofollow” to ignore the whole buttons block.

Anyhow, if you like my advices, you can do me a HUGE favor, and spread the word about this social bookmarking / user generated websites / - pagerank phenomenon.

  41. Joe December 12, 2007 5:19 pm

    Lazar,

I want to thank you for taking the time to comment on our blog. I also want to thank you for the insight you have given me and my readers. Please come back any time. This comment is like a guest post Would you be interested in posting a guest post? If so, please let us know.

  42. Lazar December 12, 2007 7:18 pm

Joe, thanks for the invitation. I don’t really write that often nor that much. Only when I think that I can say something interesting and useful. As you can see, even my blog has only 2 SEO related posts in 3 months. If you want to make my previous comment a guest post, feel free to do that.

    Thanks again.

One of the most comprehensive lists I’ve found. Unfortunately not all the sites are functioning . Kinja is about to close. Spurl has banned new submissions for the time being and there are problems with others as well. But I’m sure new sites will crop up from time to time.

  68. Joe May 1, 2008 10:10 am

    Mike,
Thanks for taking the time to comment. I also want to thank you for the information of the sites you mentioned. I was going to start taking some of the sites off, but my thinking is this, what kind of sites will replace ones that close. I know that if I was going to build a new social site I might buy old domains and redirect that traffic.

    Best Regards,

    Joe Justin
