Joe, wow! I didn't know that the average person spent that much money on gift certificates! I agree that it would be awesome to make a few thousand extra bucks per month. ;) Even if the average was lowered and you only got half of those people...that will STILL be quite a bit of money. I will definitely have to keep this in mind. Thanks for sharing the tip. Take care!

Mike,
Thanks for taking the time to comment on our blog. You are correct when you say you need a good amount of traffic. However, We have found that once someone registers to buy the gift certificates, they usually spend an average of 150.00 a month.

So if you get 100 people that registers and each one just spends the average of $150.00 then that's 15K gross which you get 6k for the month.

What if you had 5 web sites where you were able to get 100 people to register. Or only 50 people to register. Could you deal with an extra 30k or 15k a month?

As far as the traffic goes we have campaigns from Clear Channel Radio stations that you can advertise on and pay with Gift Certificate from your company.

I hope I cleared things up. This is something that should be a no brainer for most folks.

This is an interesting idea. Obviously you need a lot of traffic to your site in order to make a decent amount of money though. I also think that the type of website plays an important role. If you have a website about one thing with gift certificates for nonrelated stores then I doubt as many people are going to want them. A great idea to try out though, thanks!
