Google updates Page Rank
If you have been reading any blogs at all this last week you know by now that Google updated their PR. They have also penalized sites for “supposedly” purchasing links as well as other things we “should not” do.
Ok, first of all I am happy with the update. I now have a page rank of 3 that’s a PR3 with Google. Yippee!!!! It really didn’t affect anything I do or have done. It really didn’t affect my placements in the search engines. However, from what I have read Google has penalized some companies for various reasons. I really don’t know Google’s terms of service or anything like that. I only know that if Google says you have violated it, you’re doomed and there’s nothing you can do about it.
So what are we to do? The one thing we need to do is to continue to post informative articles. Don’t take a one or two week hiatus just because our sick (I even dog myself out here!). Make sure to stay on top of you social marketing. Social marketing is THE most important part of marketing. With it, you can get thousands even tens of thousands of visitors a day from your social marketing efforts.
Your social marketing efforts become even more important when you do start to get a large amount of traffic. When this happens every one takes notice at your site. Everyone will start talking about how awesome or how crappy your site is. Of course this brings attention from the guys over at Google and if someone is having a bad day, you might just get banned from Google all together. Keep in mind that all their spiders and algorithms have not even raised a flag. Just like that you get banned. What do you do now?
Well if you have been consistent with your posting and social media marketing it probably won’t affect your traffic that much. It may tick you off for a day or so, but when you realize you are still getting all that traffic prior to being banned you won’t even care.
