DO FOLLOW Attribute, What is it?
I previously touched on this subject in an earlier post. But today I am going to go over the DO FOLLOW attribute in a little more detail. I am a supporter of DO FOLLOW on my blog. There are instances where you would want to use it when building an html/flash web site. However, this is a little off topic and in my opinion the pure HTML/flash web sites days are numbered. So let’s talk about the DO FOLLOW.
The DO FOLLOW attribute tells search engines whether or not to follow links that it finds on your site. When the search engine goes the site it finds from your site, it then spiders the out going site. Hence a back link from your site to their site. If this attribute is turned off with NO FOLLOW then the search engines will not follow the link. That’s why a lot of visitors will not leave their comments. They see no reward in leaving their comments, so they go else where to leave comments.
If you want to encourage your readers to leave comments it’s a good idea to use the DO FOLLOW attribute. It will help you in starting your own community by using this attribute. Other visitors will tell their friends and associates that you use the DO FOLLOW attribute, they in turn will visit your site as well. Of course, if your site is full of good content, the new referred visitor will not only stay on your site but return to find out whether or not you have another great article.
You want to make sure that you tell your visitors that you use the DO FOLLOW attribute. You can do this by placing it on your site. If you want to use the DO FOLLOW ATTRIBUTE you need to use a plugin. You can find one at Semi Logic’s web site or you can go to Andy Beard’s site where he has a list of different DO FOLLOW plugins for this.
If your visitors know that you use this attribute and they realize what it means they will more likely to comment on your posted articles that if you don’t mention it. SO if you use the DO FOLLOW attribute it will help to increase your readership and feedback to your articles. I would like to encourage you to leave your comments. Good or bad. We welcome them all. Until next time…

I totally agree with you about dofollow attribute. I’ll install the plugin asap and tell to reader that i use the “you comment - i follow” movement.
