How to Properly explain WEB 2.0?

Last night I went to a BIZ to BIZ networking event in Fort Lauderdale. It was my first experience in trying to explain WEB 2.0 Internet marketing. When I told associates that I was an internet marketer, most immediately thought search engine rankings and pay-per-click (PPC).

I have to say it was a task that I for the most part failed miserably. I think in part some of it was has to do with other associates trying to sell their services as I was trying to do the same. However, Even for the folks that were truly interested, it was a difficult task to say the least. By the end of the event, I was using MySpace as an example of WEB 2.0 internet marketing as well as the event we were all attending multiplied by millions.

I realize that I am at fault for not rehearsing the different questions I knew I would get. I thought heck, I know this stuff like the back of my hand, I’ll just wing it. In my opinion that was a big mistake. I did wing it, but on my level or maybe a little lower. I did do a good job of explaining to the folks who understands a little about search engines which may result in a couple of clients. But I want to be able to explain to folks at the lowest level. Then if they do understand I can go into the great stuff that Web 2.0 can offer.

I would like to hear what you all have to say about this. The best way to explain WEB 2.0 internet marketing at the lowest level. I would also like to hear different questions that you may have concerning WEB 2.0 internet marketing as well as questions others may have asked you. Please leave your comments good or bad. My next post I will go into the process of social networking and list some sites that you should be checking out. Until next time….
