WEB 2.0 and Blog Posting Secrets

weaponry3.jpgI have been throwing around the idea of coming up with a product that will explain the ins and outs of how to post your articles to your blog using my ping list and other techniques and strategies. Here is the ping list I use and some other things I will include.

Before I give you my ping list, I also want to describe some of the other techniques that I want to include in this new product. Please keep in mind that I am not sure if I will charge for this product or not. At the present moment I am leaning towards a free product. I believe that a free product with great strategies and techniques will help me in keeping my current readers as well as gaining new readers. It will also help in establishing myself as an expert.

In this new product I will be showing you other ways of social marketing similar to what I have already written about like Onlywire, Pinging services like FeedShark and some new services that I am testing and seem to be working very well. I hope to have this complete before the end of December.

If this is something that you would be interested in or you would like to be a proof reader/beta tester, leave us a comment

This following is the ping list I use in my Wordpress blog. Please fell freee to copy and use it for all of your posts. If you are using other services that I do not have, please let us know via comments so that we can add them to the list.

This looks like a very comprehensive list of resources. How long does it take to get through all of these when you post?

  2. Jason November 16, 2007 8:04 pm

Thanks for the list, iv pinged all my blogs using these as iv just made a php script which adds to all. I’ll email you if i decide to publish the script publicly.

    Again, thanks a lot

    David,
Good to see you back again and thanks for the comment. Sometimes I assume too much with this technical stuff.

    Here’s what you do.
    1. You first copy the ping list.
    2. GO to the Wordpress dashboard and click on Options.
    3. Now find the word writing and click on it.
    4. Go to the bottom of the page and find the update services field.
    5. Paste the ping list in that field.
    6. Click on the Update options button.

You have now saved the pinglist so that every time you make a post, it will ping the entire list. It does take a minute or so to post to all the services, but it’s worth it.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. I have a couple of other services I use as well as some other Social Marketing tools I use. Let me know if you want to be a beta tester or if you just want to wait until I finish the product.

    Jason,
Thanks for the comment! I hope the list helps you out in getting noticed in the blogspere!

    Best of luck!

Thanks for going back and explaining all for someone like me who pretty much tries to avoid stuff that uses one particular side of the brain. I would tell you which side that was but I forgot :)

    David,

    You are too funny!

By the way I apologize for not being clear on the ping list. It’s something I am trying to work on in the product. I don’t want to assume anything. I think you would be a great beta tester/proof reader. Let me know if you are interested.

A nice ping list but I’d like to add a note of caution. When I increased my ping list I had a great deal of trouble saving posts and pages. Every time I tried to save, a download box came up instead. I eventually tracked the problem down to a low php memory limit. As I use a virtual server I was able to increase the limit but many people won’t be able to do this. If you run into this problem you can use Feedburner’s PingShot service instead.

Let me know what you want to do. It sounds interesting and I would like to help if I can.

  9. Joe November 18, 2007 2:19 am

David, I will be contacting when I get things more polished.

Janet, thanks for the advice! So far the only problems I have experienced is that is sometimes takes a minute or so to make a post. I use smart pinger plugin, so the saving is not a problem. How about you Janet, do you want to be a beta tester too?

  10. janet November 21, 2007 5:32 am

Hmmm! I thought I replied to your invitation to be a beta tester but I don’t see it here! So (at the risk of repeating myself) yes include me in please. :)

  11. Joe November 21, 2007 12:20 pm

Janet I seem to be doing the same lately. I know I have left comments on some sites, but never see them. I know that the authors aren’t deleting them, because I don’t leave messages like that.

What happens is a client calls or my son demands something and I totally forget to submit the comment. I am not saying this happens to you, but I know it happens to me. this kind of stuff happens to you when you start to “Mature” I noticed it after 40 yrs old or so…:)

  12. janet November 22, 2007 10:11 am

aahhh!! is that the problem? I’m a ‘little’ bit more than 40 myself :)

  13. Joe November 23, 2007 12:58 pm

    Janet,
I am not sure if that’s the problem for you. It’s just something that I noticed started happening to me after I started to “mature”…:)

  14. David November 27, 2007 1:33 pm

I looked on the list to try and find these things I have been getting lately. I don’t know what they are. maybe you can tell me. One is something called kaser’s star Pulsar. And Akismet thinks it is spam of some sort but Bad Neighborhood doesn’t bark at it. Then we have zenmeme>popular posts. And there are others. Could you maybe help me figure out whether I should take Aksimets advice and delete them?

  15. Joe November 27, 2007 3:37 pm

    David,
The only thing I can tell you about spam, is if you are not sure don’t approve it. I do get some legitimate comments that get caught by Akismet. I probably get more than I know, because a lot of times I will get 10 or more pages of spam. I just mass delete when I get that many.

  16. GSL February 27, 2008 6:14 am

    Hi!!
My first visit to your web site and experience is very bad ..I have tested that entire ping list but unfortunately all most 90% of URLs are not working. Errors like:
    Bad Server Request.
    302 not found
    Temp. not available
    401 Unauthorized
    Forbidden………and so on..

What’s wrong I think this list is quite old…
    What I’m doing is:
Simply Copy and pasted those URls one after another to my firefox browser and in result what I got is I have already stated above.

I think database og Ping list is not up to date.
Let me know if I’m doing something wrong.

    GSL,
I want to thank you for taking the time to leave a comment on our blog. I also want to apologize to you because our ping list on our post has not been updated. You can get an updated ping list here: http://www.instant-info-online.com/wordpress-compressed-all-inclusive-ping-list.html

We were also wondering why your experience on our sites was bad because of the ping list. Why would you base your entire experience at our site on the ping list be outdated. I beleieve that your site is an SEO site correct? Shouldn’t you know where to get an updated ping list? SO now I am thinking that you are just trying to blast my sites for reasons unbeknownst to me. I will again give the link to the updated ping list: http://www.instant-info-online.com/wordpress-compressed-all-inclusive-ping-list.html

    I wish you the best!

  18. Buster April 10, 2008 11:18 am

Hi Guys, great advice on PING-ing but is there a way to add those sites to BLOGGER?

  19. Joe April 10, 2008 3:16 pm

    Buster,
Thanks for taking the time to comment on our blog.

I haven’t really used blogger that much so I wouldn’t know how to use the ping list in blogger. However, I could recommend http://www.feedshark.brainbliss.com and http://www.pingoat.com. Those two pinging services are a manual way of submitting your blog to many different services. I hope that helps.

    Joe Justin
